Overview
Dynamic AI operates as a browser-based interface to your databases. The components required are therefore a browser, a web-server and the installed and activated Dynamic AI application accessing one or more databases.

Browser and web-server:
Most browsers are supported (see below). The setup file includes a light-weight web-server (QuickWeb) that can be used without requiring additional steps if you do not already have Microsoft Internet Information Services web server (IIS) installed.

Dynamic AI activation:
The first time you launch Dynamic AI, you will be asked to activate your installation. The activation creates a unique ID for your installation which, along with the name you enter, becomes part of an activation code for your installation. The activation code is emailed to you immediately after you submit the activation form (processing and mail-delivery may take a few minutes).

In order to directly activate your installation, you need to be connected to the internet. If that is not possible, you can request and retrieve an activation code from any connected PC or device. Submit your details and the unique ID from the activation form to the URL displayed.

Dynamic AI application accessing Databases:
When starting Dynamic AI the first time, you have access to 2 Dynamic AI repositories. A repository is a central file that stores definitions of connections, reports, forms, dashboards etc. available in Dynamic AI. Only the definitions are stored, never data. In the left-side menu you can switch between available repositories (e.g.: DEMO and the initial empty repository for your own use). The DEMO repository includes a connection to a demo database file. You have to set up your own database connections to build Dynamic AI applications.

Be aware that some databases might require installation of client-side software, if not already present.

  • Windows NT4, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7
  • Pentium-class processor or better
  • At least 256 MB of RAM
  • Up to 30 MB of hard disk space
  • 1024 x 768 screen resolution
  • A valid email account to retrieve your activation code for Dynamic AI
  • Supported browsers: Microsoft Internet Explorer 5, 6, 7, 8, FireFox 2 or later, Safari 3 or later, Netscape 8, Opera 9 or later, Chrome
  • Required web-server: One of the following:
    • Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) 5 or later (recommended)
    • QuickWeb (included)


Instructions

  1. Click the Download button on this page to start the download.
  2. Do one of the following:
    1. To start the installation immediately, click Run.
    2. To save the download to your computer for installation at a later time, click Save.
    3. To cancel the installation, click Cancel.
  3. Follow the installation wizard and complete installation by starting Dynamic AI.
  4. Enter registration name, email and country and submit the activation form.
  5. Retrieve the activation mail, click on the activation link in the mail OR copy/paste the activation-code into the Activation Code input field on the activation form.


Additional information

Security considerations:
Dynamic AI is about getting useful access to information stored in databases. To make information available in a uniform and easy way, Dynamic AI is 100% browser-based. As mentioned above, Dynamic AI is accessed through a web-server. By nature, a web-server can be accessed from other PC’s on the net (intranet or internet). Dynamic AI Server and Enterprise editions are protected by, among other things, user accounts and strict password rules to ensure a secure environment.

The Dynamic AI Personal and Desktop Editions can only be accessed from the same PC that Dynamic AI is installed upon OR via an IPhone/IPod/PDA device with a password. You should be aware that IIS or QuickWeb installations can be accessed externally, depending on your firewall settings.
